Hey guys, Tracey Watts Cirino here from Lavish Color Salon in Cleveland, Ohio So here we are – it’s the end of the year – it’s the beginning of the New Year – actually, it’s the beginning of a new decade YIKES!!! Now it’s time to Plan for Success in 2020!
Planning For Success Begins with Reflecting on Last Year!
In order to begin planning for success in the New Year, I start every year with a ritual of reflection – looking back at my personal and professional goals, and how I handled every situation. I try to visualize what’s ahead and strategize how to move forward. This time however, instead of looking back at the year as a whole, I’m going through my 2019 planner month by month. Did I utilize my time in the most productive manner? Can I eliminate activities that were not so productive? What can I do more of and what can I do less of? How will I use my time more effectively and efficiently to better prioritize and become more productive?
This is not the easiest task to accomplish, especially if you’re running a business and taking care of a family. Business circumstances always seem to take over and derail personal goals, while personal issues can sometimes wreak havoc on business ventures! And that is why this upcoming year I am looking to set and create buffers to help me stay on target, and to help maintain both sides of my agenda. And when I say buffers, perhaps I should refer to them as “Protectors Of Priorities” – my own personal superheroes there to help me eliminate those pesky activities that don’t produce and keep me stagnant, take up precious time that could be used more effectively, and above all prevent me from STAYING ON TRACK!!!!!
Planning and Keeping Organized In the Real World
Now I know this is the real world…so, as I look at the scale of life, I’m thinking “What can I do more of?” “What can I eliminate from one aspect to even the scale and satisfy my ultimate goals, but still focus on not tipping either side of the scale?” Where can I create white space to think or just relax?
These are intricate questions that require careful thought and planning while of course, using my own intuitions and incites. And, what better way to lay out plans than by using a brand planner to help me get all areas of my life organized! I’m a business owner and a writer and I like to see everything in black and white. That way, it’s so much easier to edit my life, re-visit ideas, add and subtract events and get a much better handle on how my days, weeks and months play out.
Planning For Success!
I am totally obsessed with planners and organization! In 2019, I used the Rituals for Living Planner to map out my life. It’s was a pretty good planner if you like to write in small spaces and check in with yourself often about how your feeling. I like to write things out and sometimes I write bigger than these tiny little lines. I look at it this way – the more room you have to write the better chance you have of arranging and rearranging, adjusting, adding and/or eliminating. https://dragontreeapothecary.com/products/rituals-for-living-dreambook-planner-dated-2020-version
I’ve also used the Erin Condren Life Planner – and the Danielle LaPorte Planner – I think both were pretty good… https://www.erincondren.com/lifeplanner https://shop.daniellelaporte.com/collections/the-desire-map-planners-2020-daily/products/the-desire-map-planner-program-from-danielle-laporte-2020-daily-edition-purple-w-type
My Planner of Choice for 2020
In 2020 I’m looking forward to using the Inkwell Planner. It seems to have lots of room for customization, with options for daily and monthly organizing, and lots of space for writing, planning, and doodling. https://inkwellpress.com/products/360-disc-planner
